There he joined Oceanograficos de Honduras, (ODH), as scientist-diver. ODH had a contract with the Honduran Institute of Anthropology and History to locate and archaeologically excavate shipwrecks in the Bay Islands and on the north coast of Honduras. When the archaeological work ended in 1976, Doc started the first independent dive shop on Roatan. Originally established as a guided diving operation, it ultimately became a dive equipment and compressor repair facility, serving the commercial lobster diving fleet. In 1982, he helped setup, then managed the dive operation at CoCoView Resort. CoCoView and its dive operation have become a standard in the dive resort industry. He left CoCoView in mid-1991 to pursue work in the fields of coral reef ecology. Since 2007, he can be found at CoCoView Resort, where he entertains guests with tall tales of treasure, stormy weather, and factors relating to the role of man’s fine hand in paradise lost.

Walter "Fats" Pichon (April 3, 1906 (?) - February 25, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois) was a jazz pianist, singer, bandleader, and songwriter.
Pichon was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and began playing piano in his childhood. He also played baritone horn in brass bands in his youth, already a professional musician by 1920.
He first went north about 1922, playing at various venues in New York City and New Jersey before settling in Boston for a few years where he studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. After touring the United States and Mexico with various bands in the mid 1920s, he settled again his home town of New Orleans for the later part of the decade, leading bands under his own name at dance halls and on river boats on the Mississippi River. On visits back to New York he made some recordings, mostly as a vocalist on novelty numbers, with Luis Russell and other New Orleans groups.
In the 1930s Fats Pichon led what some considered the best big band in New Orleans; it also made Mississippi Riverboat excursions. Musicians included young Dave Bartholomew. This band never recorded.
In the 1940s he began a long gig as the house pianist at The Old Absinthe House, a

The Steamboat Natchez, the ninth steamer to bear the name Nathcez, was launched by the New Orleans Steamboat Company in 1975. One of only six true steam powered sternwheelers plying the Mississippi today, the Natchez resembles the old sternwheelers Virginia and Hudson in her profile and layout. Her powerful steam engines were built for U.S. Steel Corporation's sternwheeler Clairton in 1925. Her genuine copper and steel steam whistle is a treasured antique. Her copper bell, smelted from 250 silver dollars to produce a purer tone, once graced the S.S. J.D. AYRES. Her 32 note steam calliope was custom crafted and modeled after the music makers of the Gilded Age. In the 19th century, steamboats traveled the length of the Mississippi, taking between three and five days to get between Louisville, Kentucky and New Orleans. The boatmen were notorious brawlers who went looking for women and liquor at the end of their trip and established New Orleans as the "City of Sin." In...
